Transformer- Shall be a reduction type for use on 110-120 volt AC, 60 cycles. Shall have at least five variable secondary voltages ranging from 2.5 to 7.5 volts and shall be a separate unit from the ophthalmoscope.
Lenses- Shall be equipped with three aspheric viewing lenses with powers of 14, 20 and 28 diopters. Shall be coated to keep reflections to a minimum and provide distortion-free viewing. Each shall be mounted in their own plastic ring used to hold the lens during examinations.
Scleral Depressor- Shall be a thimble type sclera depressor made to be worn on the finger. Shall be made of an appropriate material suitable for autoclaving.
Case- Shall be a molded carrying case used for secure storage of the indirect ophthalmoscope and accessories.
Charts- Shall be fundus paper recording charts. The unit shall be supplied with two pads, at least 50 charts per pad, one pad for the right eye and one for the left eye.
The unit shall be provided with a teaching mirror used for dual viewing for consultation or teaching and shall attach directly to the binocular body for right or left side viewing.
Workmanship. The binocular indirect ophthalmoscope shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.

Unit. Each (EA). One ophthalmoscope, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
