TEST SET, BINOCULAR VISION
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a binocular vision test set designed to perform the Worth Dot Test method for rapid determination of the absence or presence of binocular vision.
Salient characteristics:
The binocular vision test set shall consist of a flashlight, a filter assembly and a pair of red-green spectacles.
I. Filter Assembly- The filter assembly shall fit into the flashlight as shown in fig. 1 and shall contain four filters located at 90 degrees from each other; one red, one white and two green. The filter assembly housing shall be made of an opaque, rigid, flat black plastic. The filters shall be made of a translucent plastic with one matt surface for diffusion and shall be mounted within the housing so that unfiltered light cannot leak through.
II. Flashlight- The flashlight shall be a commercial type of tubular design consisting of a battery housing, reflector lens, retaining ring, lamp, lamp holder and a switch. Shall operate on “D” type dry cell batteries. Batteries shall not be furnished with the unit.
III. Spectacles- The spectacle frames shall be fabricated of a corrosion resistant material. Their design shall allow the spectacles to be worn reversibly, which may be achieved by the “X” bridge design. The spectacles shall contain one red filter lens and one green filter lens. The filter lenses shall be made of a translucent plastic, complementing the filters of the filter assembly.
Workmanship. The binocular vision test set shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
