COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
GAGE SET, OPTHALMIC LENS GRINDING TOOLS, METAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description a gage set for checking ophthalmic lens grinding tools which are to be used in lens finishing optical laboratory.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be supplied as a set for checking plus and minus curves from plano to 20.00 diopters in 0..25 diopter increments. Minimum number on each set shall consist of 81 gages for double curved edges, or 161 gages for single curved edges.
Each gage shall be a flat metal plate made of hard leaded brass of not less than 20 U.S. gauge (0.032 inch) thick. The gages shall be made with either one or two curved edges, that is, with either a plus or minus curve on one edge of each gage, or with a plus curve on one edge and a minus curve of same power on the edge of the same gage. The gage curvatures shall be machine to an accuracy of plus or minus 1/1000th of an inch. Gages manufactured by stamping method will not be acceptable. All sharp edges shall be rounded.
On the face of each gage shall be stamped of etched with dioptric value and two drilled holes with 1/4 inch nominal.
Workmanship. The gage set shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Set (SE). One gage set, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements.
Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdiction, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of all other applicable Federal, State, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations.
